Amy Grant just dropped her first album in 13 years, called The Me That Remains, and she stopped by to hang with me on Taste of Country Nights to chat about all the things going on in her life.
Of course Grant is married to country music Hall of Famer Vince Gill, so I asked her what it’s like to be a fly on the wall at their home.
Are they singing or playing music together, or do they leave all of that at work?
Behind The Scenes of Vince Gill + Amy Grant’s Home Life
When I asked how much music factors into their home life, Grant chucked.
“He plays [music] everyday. Music is his first language. He plays, plays, plays,” she says.
She then detailed something that just happened at their house.

“The other night — I’m a decent rhythm player, but I thought to myself, ‘I’ve got to be able to play this whole record by myself,'” she continues.
“So he’s practicing mandolin down the hall in the other room and I’m just like limping through these songs on the guitar and I thought, ‘You know, all we can do is bring what we have to the table,'” the singer goes on to say.
What Does Amy Grant Think of Vince Gill’s Musical Talents?
Grant didn’t hold back about her husband’s skills in the studio. “He’s like a maestro. He’s a freak of nature down the hall… and I’m me.”
