There’s a brand new independent label on the scene called New Fight Records that’s aiming to help jumpstart the careers of independent artists. And the first artist and release have already arrived! Brand new band Aidelvice has joined the team to release their debut EP, No Empty Rooms.
Aidelvice is a three-piece metalcore band featuring vocalist Seth Ward (No Home), guitarist Kevin McNeil (Deathbreaker / Tyraels Ascension), and drummer Peter Larson (Away Away). If you’re familiar with any of those artists, you’ll be right at home with No Empty Rooms. “Unsanctioned Vow” opens with quiet, soft piano until the guitar slowly builds and the track explodes into dissonant guitar riffs and strong screams. “Nameless” serves as a high point of the EP, with its beefy instrumentation, while “Redundancy” acts as the biggest highlight of the EP. The song features David Marshall, former vocalist of The Burial, whose stellar screams add a fantastic layer to what is already the EP’s hardest-hitting song. The EP only lasts about 18 minutes, but the trio uses their time well from beginning to end, giving the listener his or her money and time’s worth.
No Empty Rooms is five songs of quality metalcore that swoop in, hit hard, and end before you know it. On more than one occasion, I’ve found myself restarting the EP right after a full listen to get just a little bit more.
