Formed in Topeka, Kansas in 2019, Tundra independently released Wastelands, their first album of challenging, inventive deathcore in 2020. After a series of singles, the band then signed with Rottweiler Records, issuing their second album, Eternal, in 2025. Eternal was a huge step forward for Tundra as their music expanded, incorporating new influences and exploring new sonic territories, gaining international recognition along the way; Metal Temple describing the band’s sound as “distorted, modern and bombastic, able to make walls tremble”. And now the time has come to reveal the next stage in Tundra’s continual evolution; a collection of re-recorded classics, transformed covers and electrifying new material that combine to form Tundra’s heaviest release to date – Eternal: Eclipse!
Eternal: Eclipse begins with the jarring, fractured sonic violence of new song ‘Vampires’, where distorted synths sow discomfort and discord amongst the colossal, slamming riffs and shockingly powerful grooves. Morgan’s vocals carry a desperate edge throughout and right to the final chord ‘Vampires’ is entwined in an intense and unsettling aura. And that nerve-shredding atmosphere just gets more enveloping as the immense weight and heft of a re-recorded ‘Corruption’ kicks in and has you looking over your shoulder and jumping at shadows. Originally appearing on the Wastelands album, ‘Corruption’ has been sculpted into something infinitely more imposing and dangerous. This reborn incarnation just keeps coming at you, an unflinching battering ram of a track – pushing you onwards into the clutches of one of Tundra’s darkest ever tracks – the sludge, rot and horror of ‘Undead’. Taken from the Eternal album, ‘Undead’ has been rebuilt into a sinister war machine! With its jerky, juddering riffs and eerie ambience, this is monstrous, dank deathcore from the tomb. These three Tundra originals, both new and riotously reformed, are joined by two covers – an absolutely crushing take on Linkin Park’s ‘Lying From You’ that feels touched by madness and an interpretation of ‘Haunted’ by Evanescence that retains the melodic, melancholic nature of the original, but infuses it with awesome force and strength. The five songs, covers and originals, fit together seamlessly to make Eternal: Eclipse Tundra’s most effective and affecting release to date. This is music you can feel in your heart and your gut and it will not leave you unmoved.
Mastered by Daniel Keebler McKay (Voluntary Mortification, Cleansing Of The Temple etc), Eternal: Eclipse sounds utterly immense – the impact as each beat lands is palpable; pure muscle and blood.
