Tyscot Records, the oldest operating African American-owned gospel label in the world, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with 19 Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations for its affiliated acts. Gospel music legend John P. Kee, off the heels of an acclaimed NPR Tiny Desk performance earlier this year, has earned seven Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations for his current album, Throwback: An Evening with John P. Kee, Vol. 1 (Kee Music Group / Tyscot Records). Among his many nominations is one for Special Event Album of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.

The recent Grammy® Award winning Heart of Mine (Gumbo Studios / Tyscot) album collaboration between Darrel Walls and R&B star PJ Morton also earned seven Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations. Among the categories are Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. Their Billboard Top Ten single “Able” features Kim Burrell and snagged a nod as Song of the Year.  PJ Morton also earned looks as Producer of the Year for the project (that has logged over 7 million streams to date) and for Recorded Music Packaging of the Year for designing the artwork.

Veteran artist Deitrick Haddon and his Voices of Unity choir earned three nominations for their star-studded album ChainBreaker 2.5 (ManHaddon Ministries / Tyscot) which celebrates the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking Chain Breaker album from 2000. Among the nominations are Music Video of the Year for the uplifting acoustic track, “Find Jesus.”

Erstwhile choirmaster Jason Clayborn’s “Whatever It Is” (JayClay Music / Tyscot) collab with Grammy® nominated vocal dynamo Melvin Crispell III was nominated in the Duo/Chorus of the Year and Contemporary Duo/Chorus Group of the year categories.

Tyscot recently signed Baltimore, Maryland-based Brandon Camphor’s TOMii Entertainment production company to a recording deal. Camphor’s vocal group Brandon Camphor & One Way, who won their first Stellar Award last year, are nominated as Best Traditional Duo/Chorus Gospel of the Year for their soul-stirring track, “In Christ Alone.”

The 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards ceremony will be taped live from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Visit www.tyscot.com for label news and www.thestellarawards.com for Stellar Gospel Music Awards news updates.
